A quick flick of the wrist, and another cigarette butt is thoughtlessly thrown to the ground. It
seems as though cigarette butts are everywhere. They are scattered along green spaces, sidewalks, roads, beaches, and in the ocean. Many smokers don’t think twice about leaving a trail of cigarette litter behind them and, unfortunately, littering of cigarette butts remains socially acceptable in many places even to this day.
As they represent one of the most common man-made litter items in the world, cigarette butts pose a serious threat to the health of the environment by physically contributing to litter as well as introducing many hazardous chemicals. Accidental ingestion of cigarette butts by children, pets, and wildlife can possibly lead to either choking or poisoning!
WeSea has launched the #MoveYourButt campaign to raise awareness about this threat and put an end to it. Alongside meticulous cleaning operations, we are working to educate about the impact cigarette butts have on the environment and the role each of us can play to become part of the solution.
We are also even looking at different solutions to up-cycle this waste. WeSea invites you to be part of the #MoveYourButt campaign! Together we can make a difference!
